May 16-22, 2022:

MONDAY:
  • Beginning Monday at 7 am, enjoy two hours of music exclusively by New Mexico artists each week day - followed by Spanish Music mostly by New Mexico artists from 9am to noon. It's part of our commitment to the great musical talent in New Mexico now and in the past. Enjoy!

  • At noon Indigenous Brillance with host Lyle Toledo Yazzie brings you both traditional and contemporary native music.
  • At 2 pm we now air Reclaimed, a one-hour weekly program hosted by Jarrett Martineau that explores the many worlds of contemporary Indigenous music, from traditional songs to Native hip-hop, R&B, and the dance floor-filling beats of electric powwow.
  • John McNerney is on a well-earned vacation. Guest host Nick Upton will spin today's classic Rock and Roll on Early Daze from 3pm until 5pm.
  • Today at 5:00 pm Bioneers is back with Laboring for Justice: See No Stranger: In a world that’s unraveling from climate disruption and gaping inequality, another climate crisis confronts us: the climate of hate and othering. Award-winning scholar and educator Valarie Kaur says to overcome racism and nationalism, we must not succumb to rage and grief. As someone who has spent much of her life challenging horrific injustices and intolerance, Kaur learned the lesson that historical nonviolent change-makers understood: social movements must be grounded in an ethic of love. She founded the Revolutionary Love Project, and has emerged as one of the most important voices of the American Sikh community, and a highly influential faith leader on the national stage. Bioneers is brought to you by Las Placitas Association.
  • George Koinis hosts The Jazz Groove from 6 pm until 9 pm. Jazz Groove brings you jazz of all flavors - mainstream, swing, Latin, fusion, blues and much more.
  • Then at 9 pm, it's Global Village. Global Village heads to Estonia for some traditional, neo-folk and classical music with roots in Estonian folk music. We’ll hear music of Arvo Pärt and Tormis performed by the Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir and the contemporary ensemble, Tormis Quartet, from a tribute album they did. Plus selections from Trad.Attack!, Mari Kalkun, the award-winning Estonian-Belgian group Estbel, and the Estonian-Ukranian band Svjata Vatra.

A one-hour distillation of the recent and acclaimed seven-part podcast on the same subject, that Nixon biographer Evan Thomas called "the smartest and clearest (and most entertaining) explanation of this tangled mess that I have ever heard."

We tour his solo work with a particular focus on one of his collections, released in 1972, "Stephen Stills Manassas". considered by many to be Stills' creative peak outside of the early CSNY work. Mick Fleetwood and Friends: Fleetwood Mac had huge and unprecedented success with its late-70s and later pop-music line-up, but many modern fans don’t know or don’t remember the Mac of the ‘60s, with the phenomenal guitar of Peter Green. To help them and us out, Mick Fleetwood put together a star-studded Peter Green tribute concert, and Geezer Rock is sharing a selection from the resulting CD set, “Mick Fleetwood and Friends Celebrate the Music of Peter Green and Early Fleetwood Mac.” There’s also music by Neil Young and Crazy Horse, featuring the return of Nils Lofgren (and his accordion) and much more!
