MONDAY:
  • NOTE: Our Monday morning set aside for system maintenance is scheduled for midnight Sunday night, some nights requiring more than hour. Otto will fill the remainder of time with music. Mystery Music's encore now begins at 2 am.
  • Beginning Monday at 7 am, enjoy two hours of music exclusively by New Mexico artists each week day - Today it's all about Biscuits and Gravy - mostly western, folk, bluegrass.   • Tune in at 9 am weekdays for three hours of Musica Nuevo Mexico y Mas with DJ Kelly Esparsen - Rancheros, Cumbias, Boleros, Nortenos, Corridos and more. Kelly is an experienced DJ, lover of the music you love, and a recent Placitan. We are happy he is continuing KUPR's commitment to its New Mexico music listeners. 
  • At noon Indigenous Brilliance with host Lyle Toledo Yazzie brings you both traditional and contemporary native music. Lyle has a special guest coming at 1 pm today - tune in.
  • At 2 pm we will air The Main Stream from Native Voice One. Host Brett Maybee (Seneca) curates a program that explores the best recorded music of yesterday and today. Brett draws upon his love of all music to create the very best listening experience.
  • 3:00 pm tune in for John McNerney's Early Daze is back playing classic Rock and Roll from the 60s through the 80s. 
  • Today at 5:00 pm Marty Tippens brings you his weekly Music of the Space Age and Beyond. Now on the air for two hours with an encore at midnight Saturdays.
  • George Koinis hosts The Jazz Groove now from 7 pm until 9 pm. Enjoy mainstream, swing, Latin, fusion, blues and more. 
  • Then at 9 pm it's Bioneers with Seeing the Forest for the Trees: We trek into the ancient old-growth forest where the trees reveal an ecological parable: A forest is a mightily interwoven community of diverse life that runs on symbiosis. Our guests are Doctors Suzanne Simard and Teresa Ryan, two Canadian ecologists whose work has helped reveal an elaborate tapestry of kinship, cooperation and mutual aid that extends beyond the forest boundaries. Bioneers is brought to you by Las Placitas Association.
  • From 10 pm to midnight, catch the encore of Electric Bosque, hosted by Sasquatch on Saturday mornings at 7 am. 
TUESDAY:
  • Beginning Monday at 7 am, enjoy two hours of music exclusively by New Mexico artists each week day - Today it all New Mexico Gumbo - a musical stew with your favorites like Felix y los Gatos and Max Baca - all part of our commitment to the great musical talent in New Mexico now and in the past. You'll be hearing some genuine New Mexico poetry mixed in with the music - from our newest member of the KUPR family - Emily Romero. Things that will remind you why you love living in New Mexico.   • At 3 pm, another locally produced hour of great music - Shiftless Radio Hour with DJ Linda playing country, folk, and genre-defying tunes to enjoy on a Tuesday afternoon.
  • At 4 pm, the popular Pearls with host Sarah Lawndart. Eclectic doesn't begin to describe Sarah's taste in poetry, music and more. Good stuff.
  • At 5 pm, long-time favorite Let's Get Creative airs. Larry Goodell starts the hour with some featured poetry, followed by music and interviews from Jerry Di. 
  • At 6 pm in a new time slot, we air a syndicated show: Wandering Minstrels bringing you the best of Bluegrass.
  • At 7 pm, Dr. Slide brings his hit show Slide Factor live to Tuesday nights. Enjoy American Slide Music at its best with our Dobro and Steel Guitar master for over 50 years. 
  • At 9 pm enjoy an hour of Global Village: It’s ‘reggae rock’ this time in the Global Village as we highlight reggae covers of rock songs from the likes of the Beatles, Cat Stevens, Buffalo Springfield, Dylan, the Police and more, performed by the Easy Star All-Stars, UB40, the Skatalites, the new album from the Mighty Rootsmen, and more.
  • Now at At 10 pm, enjoy an encore of Thursday morning's Mike's House.
  • At 11 pm enjoy the encore of Anna Rudolph's Sunday Chasing the Muse.
WEDNESDAY:
  • Beginning Monday at 7 am, enjoy two hours of music exclusively by New Mexico artists each week day - Today it's all about Vintage New Mexico bands - step back in time with us for some bands you will remember along with some you probably never heard of - all part of our commitment to the great musical talent in New Mexico now and in the past. Submissions from NM musicians encouraged; mail cds marked "vintage" to PO Box 888, Placitas, NM 87043 or email tracks here.   • At 9am Alonzo Lucero is live in the studio today with his selection of Rancheros, Cumbias, Boleros, Nortenos, Corridos and more. After 55 years on the air, Alonzo is moving toward retirement but loves his listening audience so much he just can't say goodbye. He will be live on Wednesdays and Thursdays each week.
  • At noon tune in for Paul Ingles' Music Archives: Isn't It Good: The Beatles Rubber Soul - Hour 1 of 2. Producer Paul Ingles presents another in his acclaimed series of specials on Beatles' history. Over a dozen musicians, music writers and Beatles fans comment on the significance of RUBBER SOUL, the 1965 release by The Beatles along with song-by-song notes on the writing and performances of each track. Rubber Soul was slotted at #5 in a Rolling Stone Magazine 2012 survey of the Top 500 Rock Albums of All-Time.
  • At 1 pm enjoy Sounds from the Mother Road from Public Radio Exchange. This week it's all about Critters in song, featuring Barnyard Boogie, Cow Cow Boogie, Rattle Snakin' Daddy, Fishin' Blues, Hound Dog, Doghouse Boogie and more by artists, Vassar Clements, Robert Earl Keen Jr., Slaid Cleaves, Toni Price, Asleep at the Wheel, Hot Club of Cowtown, and more. Sounds from the Mother Road is weekly exploration of the last 70 years of American Roots Music, featuring western swing, country, rockabilly,cowboy tunes and the artists who continue those traditions today.
  • At 2 pm DJ Sal Treppiedi hosts Sounds from the Superhighway for three hours. 
  • Today at 5 pm join us for hours 2 and 3 of The Main Stream from Native Voice One. Host Brett Maybee (Seneca) curates a program that explores the best recorded music of yesterday and today. Brett draws upon his love of all music to create the very best listening experience.
  • At 7 pm, tune in for Hindsight with Johnny Lawndart - music underplayed and overlooked. Themes and the best of overlooked music.
  • Then at 9 pm, enjoy Singer-songwriter-guitarist G.E. Smith in performance at Fur Peace Ranch  September 9, 2023
  • At 10 pm is our exclusively aired series "Stolen Moments" from the late Simon Barley. You will be treated to the best in acoustic modern jazz recorded between 1944 and 1969. Check out our talent page on the website to learn more about the amazing Simon Barley.
THURSDAY:
  • At 7 am, enjoy an hour of music exclusively by New Mexico artists.
  • At 8 am, enjoy Mike's House with host Michael Stovall will continue our Thursday morning tribute to New Mexico artists with interviews and live music. Mike returns with a 9-midnight time slot with more music and interviews with New Mexicans in the music business. 
  • At 9am KUPR tune in for Alonzo Lucero for more Musica Nuevo Mexico y Mas.
  • Join us at noon for another KUPR exclusive, Stories with Montie - The Santa Fe 2926. Montie will be returning weekly with another true story from New Mexico's past. Stories with Montie is produced by Dan White of Placitas. 
  • At 12:30 pm we will air Watersheds as Commons, a 14-part documentary series who speak from within watersheds of the Canadian, Pecos, San Juan, Animas, Mancos, Rio Grande, Gila and Colorado Rivers. Today's segment is Hopi Culture: Listening to the Flow of Nature.
  • At 1 pm enjoy 10,000 Good Songs - Music Documentarian Paul Ingles shares some of the best from his multi-genre collection of tunes. Music you won't hear on commercial radio.  
  • At 3pm join Spinning Kenny G and the Mystery Hour.
  • Dr. David Hoekenga's Harmonies from the Sandias airs at 6 pm, tonight's feature TBA.
  • ​Night at the Opera has been retired after a long run. Join us now at 8 pm for an encore of Tim Trujillo's popular Straight No Chaser.
  • At 10 pm: Searching for the First Rock and Roll Song where you will hear music from that time when rhythm and blues and rock and roll were emerging but hadn’t yet become a predictable formula. A time when musicians were listening to and incorporating these music’s exciting emergence into their own style of music – music that is difficult to categorize. Not a hits, oldies, or “history of” radio show. it’s all the songs that influenced our now-legendary musicians who are regularly featured in all those hits, oldies, and “history of” radio shows.
FRIDAY:

  • At 9am, tune in for Fridays' Musica Nuevo Mexico y Mas with Otto in charge - selections from our library of your favorite New Mexico tunes.
  • At noon, Tim Trujillo leads off at noon with Straight No Chaser, for two hours with an encore at 8 pm Thursdays. Check out Tim's sidekick Richard Warren on our Talent Page and on the air. He knows a lot about the music he selects.
  • At 2 pm welcome to Indigenous in Music with Larry K. - This week we welcome Diyet & the Love Soldiers. Born and raised in the Yukon, Diyet blends her Southern Tutchone roots with folk, rock, and country influences, creating music that reflects her identity and her land. With her latest projects and her new album Seeds of Dreaming, Diyet continues to inspire audiences worldwide.
  • At 3 pm join us for Peace Talks Radio, a series on peacemaking and nonviolent conflict resolution. Today is about Kindness and Compassion in the Film “The Antidote”. Today we consider a 2020 film documentary “The Antidote”, a feature documentary that weaves together stories of kindness, decency, and the power of community in America. It's about everyday people who make the intentional choice to lift others up. Host Paul Ingles talks with the film's directors: Academy Award-nominee Kahane Cooperman, and six-time Emmy winner, John Hoffman.
  • ​​At 4 pm enjoy KUPR's Happy Hour with DJ Kelley Esparsen and Club 99.
  • At 7 pm it's an encore of Hindsight from Wednesday evening.
  • At 9 pm - Michael Stovall with Mike on the Mike is live late Fridays at KUPR. 
SATURDAY:
  • At 7 am we kick off Saturday morning with Electric Bosque. DJ Sasquatch returns to the radio at KUPR, after a decade on the college radio station KCPR in San Luis Obispo, California, where he hosted a range of shows. He's excited to be back on the airwaves, sharing the music that tickles his ears in "Electric Bosque," a two-hour-long wander through electronic music new and old. 
  • Saturday morning at 9 am join us for a two-hour KUPR unique venture into the world of music. Patrick Vanderwyden hosts Hidden Gems of the 21st Century - Patrick harvests rain water for the station and is a member of the managing council. On Saturday mornings he introduces you to music he enjoys, but is missing from the playlists of most radio stations. 
  • Join us at 11 for Whiskey in the Jar, old time fiddle and traditional Irish music with host Marc Robert. Marc has been a fixture on the Placitas music scene for years, playing banjo, guitar and acoustic bass. He’s part of the Virginia Creepers, a local old time band, and also plays with his son Michel as Littlefoot (also old time) and with fiddler Eileen Sullivan as Far From Home (traditional Irish music). 
  • At noon Bill Honker will bring you Home Again. Bill is a singer and songwriter who played bass, sang and contributed songs to the Alan Munde Gazette, a nationally known bluegrass band. 
  • At 1 pm host Beyond Words with Blaze Defiant airs in a new time slot. Enjoy music, poetry and all sorts of spoken word.
  • Next up at 2 pm is Saturday Afternoon Freeform with Jerry D featuring Americana, Bluegrass, and Jambands, just to name a few. 
  • Bobbi Bell's OutWest Hour comes on at 4 PM- music, poetry, prose, Western, Western Swing, Cowboy Country and more. 
  • At 5 pm is an exotica jazz show - The Enchanted Tiki Hut with hosts Kitty and Mr. C. This show is another unique KUPR offering!
  • At 7 pm we are excited to bring you another unique, locally produced show - The Lounge with host Nick Upton. Nick joined KUPR after a 45-year career in radio.
  • Then at 8 pm, enjoy an encore of Music of the Space Age hosted by Marty Tippens (the Martian), a great show airing live on Mondays. 
  • Hours 4 and 5 of The Main Stream run from 8 to 10 pm.
SUNDAY:
  • At 7 am, another new show - Classical Guitar Alive! This week's edition of CLASSICAL GUITAR ALIVE! features music by Castlenuovo-Tedesco, John Duarte, Mathias Duplessy, Ponce, and Villa-Lobos, and an interview with Leo Brouwer, who talks about the hand injury which caused him to turn from performance to composition
  • Sunday Morning with Ken Grimes and Lynn Kaskela begins at 9am for a Morning Blend of mostly mellow music to begin your Sunday.
  • Ken is followed by Mandolin Magic with host George Koinis at 11, one hour of music featuring some of the world's finest mandolinists playing solo, in duets, with ensembles, and with orchestras.
  • Katie Stone's award-winning show The Children's Hour - Being Youself: What does it means to truly be yourself? Everyone is different, and those differences make our world beautiful. On this episode, the crew talks with two guests who have built their lives and careers around being true to who they are. First, the kids meet author Jane Yolen, who has written more than 400 books for children and young adults. She shares her love for writing and explains how her stories come from being honest about her feelings and experiences. Her newest picture book, Quiet as Mud, celebrates quiet kids and reminds us that every kind of personality has its own kind of strength. Jane talks about how stories choose her and how her characters help her understand both herself and others. Next, the Kids Crew meets Craig Yoe, former general manager of The Muppets, a writer, illustrator, and comic creator known for his silly sense of humor. He tells how being the class clown helped him build a joyful career at The Muppets, Nickelodeon, and Sesame Street. Craig shows that creativity and laughter come from embracing who you are, not pretending to be someone else. The kids review his book Captain LOL and Rubber Chicken Har Har, giving it a perfect ten out of ten for humor and imagination.
  • From 1-3 pm. DJ Ken Ward is on the air with “Tombstone Every Mile” for vintage honky-tonk and bluegrass, truckin’ songs, western swing and cowboy classics, gospel quartets, and the occasional old-time string band tune.  Ken is on for three hours now.
  • ​​At 4 pm we air a three-hour KUPR exclusive: Women's Voices - Hour 1 is The Voice with Pam D, featuring a different theme each show. At 5 PM is singer/songwriter Anna Rudolph and Chasing the Muse. Then, at 6 pm, Women in Jazz joins the Women's Voices lineup, hosted by George Koinis. 
  • At 7 pm we hope you are enjoying another locally produced show, Stage & Screen. Stage & Screen is all about celebrating musicals with innovative weekly themes with host Keith Allen West 
  • At 8 pm enjoy Old Time Radio Theater with host Ken Jones. You’ll hear rare broadcasts of two masterful works of Joseph Conrad: The Heart of Darkness (1949) and Lord Jim (1948) both starring Brian Aherne. Next week we’ll feature Edith Wharton’s The House of Mirth (1949) and The Age of Innocence.
  • At 10 pm to midnight we run an encore of Thursday's 10,000 Good Songs from music Documentarian Paul Ingles with a weekly mix of music from his multi-genre personal collection - mostly stuff you only get from public radio.
