In 1969, the Woodstock music festival took the world by storm. The festival cemented many bands and musicians in the annals of rock and roll history, but it also brought together half a million diverse people through their love of music. The Woodstock message was peace and love in a period of intense political and cultural change. But the power of music was being recognized all across the US, including Placitas. There was the BB King Medicine Ball concert in an open field, the famous musicians who passed through the Thunderbird Bar, and many an impromptu outdoor concert.
In this 50th anniversary year, KUPR is celebrating the power of music to entertain, educate, inspire, preserve history, build community and bring about social change. Join us at Anasazi Fields in Placitas (26 Camino de los Pueblitos) as we remember Woodstock, what it inspired and raise some money for the KUPR building fund too.
